I had the unique honor of creating a wall mural in 2014, at a co-working and event space in Hong Kong. I used black pens to draw onto three walls and fill the entire corner of this communal corridor. I am grateful for such a tremendous opportunity, which was the first of its kind for me. I essentially used this as a giant canvas to experiment with shapes and lines, and how they can interact and flow around one another to create an almost alien-like creature in the end. There were also some hidden symbols I threw in there, namely a collection of umbrellas which represent the Umbrella Movement – the peaceful protest demonstrations taking place in Hong Kong during this time.
This stop motion video shows the entire process of the creation of the mural, over several weeks as I came in to work on it in the evenings and weekends.
